Calvert 1st Grade 4 Subject Set
Calvert Learning's elementary curriculum helps to develop children's natural curiosity and encourages kids to dive into favorite subject areas not because they have to but because they're passionate about learning!
The Calvert Grade 1 curriculum is comprised of two teacher's guides and ten student workbooks for each subject plus 5 language arts beginning readers that help build phonics fluency and sight word recognition. Each full-color student workbook features a basic worksheet instruction followed by the exercises; lesson instruction comes from the teacher. Workbooks feature 3-5 sections self-test sections and a final unit test. The teacher's guides include reduced-size student pages with the correct answers overlaid in addition to the main lesson to teach.
The Language Arts program introduces the basics of reading and covers the alphabet, short vowel sounds, rhyming words, adding -ing, consonant digraphs, soft c, soft g, verbs, blends, silent letters, long vowels, syllables, r-controlled vowels, and plural words, vowel digraphs, and sentences, possessive words, diphthongs, and contractions.
The Math program covers number order, addition & subtraction, shapes, fractions, time, money, measurement, estimation, subtraction to 18, number words to 99, and more.
The History & Geography program offers a gentle introduction to social studies with units on identity, communication, feelings, families, communities, community helpers, the United States, the World, and the students' relation to the world. Children will learn about how they're unique, about good manners, how the United States was founded, the importance of teamwork, and more!
The Science program includes units on being healthy, our world, energy, machines, light, hearing, the senses, animals, and plants. Children will learn about how light travels, how touch helps you, what animals eat, how plants grow, and more!
