PAF's Orton-Gillingham approach to reading can serve as either a primary reading program or an intervention/special education program. Stepping Up in Reading 2 includes word, phrase, and sentence lists that provide practice in decoding, word recognition, and expressive reading. Students progress toward fluent reading by focusing on sound/symbol associations, blending, proper pronunciation, phrasing, and intonation. The activities offer additional practice and help develop reading comprehension. The ultimate goal is for children to read as naturally as they speak. This book contains lists of words, phrases, and sentences for children to read down the columns. Organized by PAF Level, students will practice words with initial blends, long vowels, open syllables, silent e syllables, r-controlled syllables, and vowel team syllables. Additionally, 35 sight words are included. Fill-in charts are provided for students to practice adding suffixes. The book spans 135 pages and is softcover.
