Foundations 2 provides 36 one-week sets of exercises that teach you to change spelling rules and compound suffixes and prefixes. Vocabulary words come directly from textbooks to help you learn academic vocabulary. There are six assessments included in the student activity book, with a comprehensive assessment in the back. Lessons are designed to be fun and engaging, with writing, word search, and magic square activities.
The teacher's guide provides a day-by-day guide to teaching each lesson. Objectives and materials needed for the lesson are listed at the outset with a unit at a glance chart that quickly illustrates what's being taught on what day. Each day's lesson includes teaching instructions with classroom direction scripted questions and discussion guidance. Reduced-size student pages with the answers overlaid, word lists, and assessment answers are also included.
The Dynamic Literacy WordBuild Series is a five-year program that's comprised of two series and can be used at any point from grades 3-12. This Foundations Level 2 curriculum is the second year of the first (2-year) series. Lessons take only 15 minutes per day and can be used as a regular course, intervention, EEL, or after-school activities. For on-track students, this course is recommended for grades 3-5; for struggling students grades 5-9.
