Description

Teach students how to write while learning about U.S. history, starting from Explorers to Modern Times! This course is designed for teachers who have completed the Institute for Excellence in Writing's Teaching Writing: Structure and Style seminar, and for students who have used the IEW writing model for at least one year. The course focuses on teaching advanced writing skills, such as thesis statements, MLA format, persuasive essays, research papers, and more.

This course covers the same units taught in TWSS, along with advanced essay models that help students learn how to write argumentative, personal narrative, descriptive, persuasive, research, and literary analysis essays. The teacher's manual provides a scope and sequence, lesson planning help, vocabulary quizzes, and answer keys. The student book includes inset pages, and the teacher's manual includes instructions, question answers, sample keyword outlines, brainstorming ideas, review games, and tips for motivating students.

In addition, suggested optional activities are included for Janice Campbell's Excellence in Literature: American Literature 3rd Edition. This softcover spiral-bound book is 317 pages long, and the first edition was released in 2015. Access to a free download of the Student Resource Notebook is also included. Suitable for grades 9-12.
