The Calvert History and Geography Grade 1 curriculum is comprised of two teacher's guides and ten student workbooks. Each full-color student workbook features fun activities for each lesson, each of which begins with a set of objectives. Workbooks feature 3-5 sections, self-test sections, and a final unit test. The teacher's guides include reduced-size student pages with the correct answers overlaid, in addition to lessons that include a list of materials needed, the main concept objective, teacher goal, vocabulary, and instructions for teaching the lesson. Student worksheets are also integrated throughout as needed.
This program offers a gentle introduction to social studies with units on identity, communication, feelings, families, communities, community helpers, the United States, the World, and the students' relation to the world. Children will learn about how they're unique, about good manners, how the United States was founded, the importance of teamwork, and more!
