Description

Help your child master division facts from 1/1 up to 100/10 in just twenty minutes a day, without flashcards or rote memorization, using Division Facts that Stick. This unique program teaches children to build on their multiplication knowledge rather than simply memorizing facts. Children won't drill division facts repeatedly but will practice using backwards multiplication until the answers become automatic.

The book includes ten units, each designed to be completed in approximately one week (though parents can adjust the pacing and activities to suit each child's needs). On day one, parents teach a lesson using a ten-by-ten dot array with an L-shaped paper cover to model division problems. Lessons include scripted questions with answers and clear guidance for the teacher. For the rest of the week, children will recite the corresponding times table as a warm-up, play a game to practice new facts, and complete a two-sided practice page that includes new problems and review.

This resource is suitable for ages 8 and up, targeting grades 3-7. It's designed for children who have studied division in a math program but haven't memorized division facts; it's not an introduction to division, and children will need a thorough grasp of what division means before memorizing facts. To complete the games and practice pages, you'll also need 25 small counters of two different colors, a deck of playing cards, a regular six-sided die, two game tokens, a coin, a paperclip, and paper and pencil (not included). This 366-page softcover book is reproducible for in-family use only. It's organized with lessons at the beginning followed by game boards, practice pages, and answer keys.
