The Happy Cheetah Reading System is designed to help students learn to read quickly and easily. The system starts with handwriting and then moves on to phonics. With phonics, students learn the connection between sounds and the written letters. The Getting Ready workbook is the first step in the system and introduces students to printing by hand. This is done with a sequence that is appropriate for both capital and lowercase letters. Additionally, it uses a unique font that addresses common handwriting problems such as letter reversals.
Once students have learned to print individual letters, they move on to beginning copywork. Then, they start to work on hearing individual sounds in words, which is also known as phonemic awareness. Finally, they practice writing numerals.
Please note that this workbook is consumable and is part of the Happy Cheetah Kindergarten Program. It cannot be used independently and must be used in conjunction with the rest of the Kindergarten Program books.
