Description

The second book in the Life of Fred University Mathematics series, Statistics, provides one year's worth of college-level statistics and can be used before calculus if desired. It includes eight chapters and a field guide. While a basic knowledge of algebra is recommended, there is a brief 5-question placement exam at the beginning to assess student familiarity with basic concepts.

Each chapter includes Your Turn to Play sections for practicing new concepts, with fully worked-out solutions provided for checking answers. Additionally, there are cities exercises at the end of each chapter, each designed to take approximately 20-40 minutes to complete. The answers to all cities problems are included in this expanded edition.

The Field Guide is designed for students who need a quick understanding of statistics, providing information on which test to use, where to find an explanation of the test in the book, and which table to use.

Life of Fred Statistics covers descriptive statistics, probability, Bayes' Theorem, sampling techniques, and more. The series uses a highly engaging narrative to teach math, following the adventures of Fred Gauss, a six-year-old math professor who makes math relevant and important in his life.

This hardcover, non-consumable textbook has Smyth-sewn binding and 574 indexed pages. Students write their answers on separate papers. The Expanded Edition includes all cities answers.
