Primary Arts of Language: Reading Student Book
The Primary Arts of Language: Reading package from the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) includes three resources: two student books and one loose-leaf reader package (Readers 1-4). The student books have work pages with various activities such as cut-and-paste matching and write-in exercises. The program teaches phonics and whole words through poetry and letter stories. The kit includes Primary Arts of Language: Reading Student Book 1 (Lessons 1-40), Student Book 2 (Lessons 41-80), and a Reader Packet with 60 loose-leaf pages covering Readers One-Four.

The Primary Arts of Language: Reading package from the Institute for Excellence in Writing includes three resources: two student books and one loose-leaf reader package (Readers 1 2 3 4). This set is meant to be used with the Primary Arts of Language: Reading Complete Package or Primary Arts of Language: Reading Teacher's Manual (both of which are not included and are sold separately). The work pages in the student books have a variety of activities, including cut-and-paste matching and write-in exercises. For example, students might be asked to mark Magic-e words, mark vowels, and underline helpers in a sentence.
The Primary Arts of Language: Reading teaches phonics and whole words through poetry and letter stories. It is based on the Blended Sound-Sight Program of Learning by Anna Ingham and was adapted for home educators by Jill Pike. Daily games played during Activity Time reinforce the phonetic concepts so that a student can know them completely.
Please note that the reading program should be used concurrently with the Primary Arts of Language: Writing program, which includes the letter introduction through printing practice.
