It also includes updated content in select lessons and revised student instructions and checklists for both students and teachers.
WriteShop lessons guide students through descriptive, informative, and narrative writing, focusing on brainstorming, drafting, editing, and revision skills. Students learn to craft descriptive and informative paragraphs and first- and third-person narratives, honing important style and self-editing techniques. They practice selecting vivid words and varying sentence structures to create compelling paragraphs.
Each lesson builds on previously learned skills, with students applying new concepts to their ongoing writing project, editing, and revising multiple times. By the end of each lesson, students will have a polished paper to showcase their progress. Students work on one composition over a two-week period, revising it twice. Exercises are designed to be completed sequentially, building upon previously learned material. Students systematically edit their papers using a Writing Skills Checklist tailored to each lesson.
This 5th Edition is recommended for the average student in Grades 6-10 or a bright 5th Grader working with a parent. Average 5th-grade students may also spread the course over two years. Following one lesson every two weeks, students will complete WriteShop I in one year. Please note that the Teacher's Edition (sold separately) is required for using this program.
